Ordering & containers
How does buying on QwikStone work?
Prices are listed by the seller. Add one slab or as many lots as you like to your cart, check out and pay a 50% deposit. The exact slabs are reserved for you and an association-approved broker inspects them at the yard within 72 hours. If the report matches the listing you pay the balance and we ship; if not, you choose a full refund or the seller's adjustment.
Why is my cart split by country?
Stock is loaded at one port and cleared through customs once. Stock from several yards in the same country ships together; stock from another country ships as its own order.
Do I have to fill a container?
No. Buy one slab or a full container. A small order shares a container with other buyers and you pay freight only for the space your stone takes — there is no consolidation charge.
Is there a minimum order?
Each lot shows its minimum order in sq ft (and roughly how many slabs that is). Machinery and tools are sold per unit. There's no minimum for the whole order.
Can I buy slabs that are still at sea?
Yes. Lots marked “In transit” or “At port” are already shipped. Some sellers accept bids on them — place a bid on the lot page and the seller accepts or declines within 48 hours.
Can I cancel an order?
Before the deposit, just let it expire. After the deposit and before the broker visit you can cancel for a refund of the deposit minus any payment-processing fee. After a matching broker report the reservation is firm — contact support and we'll try to resell the stock for you.
What is “Buy again”?
Account & orders → Buy again lists everything you've ordered. If the same lot still has stock, add it straight to a container; otherwise we show the seller's newer stock of the same stone.
Can I mix machinery with stone?
Machinery from the same origin country can join a stone container if there's weight left. Large machines usually ship on their own and the seller arranges crating.
Deposits & payments
Why do I pay 50% up front?
The deposit reserves the exact slabs so no one else can buy them, pays for the broker visit and protects the seller from cancellations. It's held by QwikStone, not the seller, until the broker report is in.
When do I pay the balance?
Only after the broker report confirms the stock matches the listing (or after you accept the seller's adjustment). Your order page shows “Pay balance” the moment it's due.
Which payment methods can I use?
India: UPI, cards, net banking and RTGS/NEFT (Razorpay). US, UK, Europe and Mexico: cards and bank transfer (Stripe). Brazil: PIX and cards. Save methods in Account → Payment methods; card and bank numbers are stored by the payment provider, never by QwikStone.
Are other payment terms possible?
On buying requests (RFQ) some sellers offer 30% deposit / 70% after verification — you choose the term when you accept their quote. Letters of credit are available for orders above US$50,000; contact support before you check out.
Do I get a GST / VAT invoice?
Yes. The seller issues the tax invoice for the stone; QwikStone issues invoices for freight and its own fees. Add your GSTIN/VAT number to your delivery address so it appears on both.
Which currency am I charged in?
You pay in the currency shown at checkout (your country's currency by default). Prices are converted from the seller's currency at the day's rate; the seller is paid in their own currency.
Who pays the broker fee?
The buyer — ₹5 per sq ft, converted to your currency and shown as its own line in your cost breakdown. It goes straight to the broker.
Broker verification
Who are the brokers?
Independent inspectors who are members of their local granite or marble association. They apply with an approval letter from the association and are approved by QwikStone. See all brokers and their ratings on the Verification brokers page.
What does the broker check?
They count and number every slab, measure size and thickness, check finish, colour and veining against the listing photos, look for cracks, chips and repairs, and check the packing. Every photo is time-stamped and geotagged and appears on your order.
How long does the inspection take?
Your order is offered to approved brokers near the yard as soon as the deposit is paid; the first to accept gets it, usually within hours. The visit happens within 72 hours of acceptance.
What happens if the broker finds a difference?
You see the report with photos and choose: a full refund of everything you've paid, the seller's adjustment (lower price or fewer slabs), or your own counter-offer. Nothing is charged until you agree.
Can I attend the inspection or send my own inspector?
Yes — tell support after paying the deposit. Your own inspector can attend alongside the QwikStone broker; the QwikStone report is the one used for refunds.
How do I rate a broker?
After the report is in, rate the inspection on your order page. Brokers below 3.5 stars are reviewed by our team and receive fewer jobs.
Shipping & delivery
How is the delivery date worked out?
From your delivery ZIP/PIN: broker inspection, trucking to the port, the next weekly sailing, time at sea, customs, and trucking to you. Every listing shows the date range; the lot page shows each step.
Which ports do you use?
We use regular lanes such as Mundra and Chennai (India), Livorno and Valencia (Europe), Vitória and Santos (Brazil), Veracruz (Mexico), Houston and Savannah (US) and Felixstowe (UK). At checkout you can choose a port or let us pick the cheapest.
Who clears customs?
Our customs broker clears the container at the destination port; duties and taxes are shown at checkout where they're known, otherwise billed at cost with the paperwork.
How are slabs packed?
Slabs travel in fumigated A-frame bundles or bundles with battens and steel bands, tiles on pallets in slatted crates, and cut-to-size pieces in closed crates with foam between them. See Packaging & shipping for drawings.
How do I track my container?
Your order page shows the container number, seal number, vessel and sailing date once loaded, plus the loading photos.
What should I do when the truck arrives?
If you can, open the doors in front of the driver, photograph the seal and the doors opening, then unload carefully with a forklift or crane. Report any damage within 48 hours with photos from your order page.
Ceramic & porcelain tiles
How are tiles priced and sold?
Tiles are listed per sq ft like stone, but you always buy whole boxes. Switch “Show price per” to slab / box in the header to see the price per box. The lot page shows pieces per box, sq ft per box and boxes per pallet.
What does “same shade & batch” mean?
Glazed tiles vary slightly between production runs. Every box in one QwikStone order comes from one shade and batch, printed on the carton. The broker checks the shade code and batch number on every pallet before you pay the balance.
Porcelain, vitrified or ceramic — what's the difference?
Porcelain and vitrified tiles are pressed and fired hard, absorb less than 0.5% water and suit floors, outdoors and heavy traffic. Ceramic tiles are lighter and more porous — ideal for walls, backsplashes and bathrooms. Check the water absorption and PEI wear rating in the lot's specifications.
What do PEI, R9/R11 and V1–V4 mean?
PEI is the wear rating for glazed floor tiles (PEI 3 for homes, PEI 4 for busy areas). R9 to R13 is the slip rating — R11 or higher outdoors and on ramps. V1 (uniform) to V4 (high variation) describes how much the pattern changes from tile to tile.
How much extra should I order?
Add 5–7% for straight laying, 10% for diagonal or herringbone patterns and 12–15% for large-format tiles or slabs with many cuts. Keep one or two spare boxes from the same batch for future repairs.
What are rectified tiles?
Rectified tiles are ground to exact size after firing, so they can be laid with 2 mm joints. Non-rectified tiles need 3–5 mm joints. All tiles 60 cm and larger on QwikStone are rectified unless the listing says otherwise.
How are tiles packed and shipped?
Boxes are strapped on heat-treated wooden pallets with corner protectors and stretch film. Large porcelain slabs travel on A-frames like natural stone. A 20 ft container carries roughly 1,400–1,800 m² of 9 mm tiles before it reaches its weight limit.
What if some tiles arrive broken?
Up to 1% breakage is normal in tile shipments and is covered by the seller's packing allowance. Above that, photograph the boxes and pallets within 48 hours of delivery and report it under Returns & refunds — see the returns policy for how credits are calculated.
Can I order tile samples?
Many factories send a sample box or offcuts. Use “Request a quote” on the tile's material and mention samples, or ask the seller in the buying request. Sample shipping is paid by the buyer.
Returns, refunds & damage
Can I return stone?
Natural stone is cut and loaded to order, so returns are limited to stock that was damaged in transit, wrong or short — or, for unused and uncut ready stock, a return within 7 days of delivery with a 15% restocking fee plus freight. See Returns & refunds for the full policy.
What if slabs arrive broken?
Report it within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the seal, the doors and each damaged piece (before unloading further). We compare with the broker and loading photos and settle from the transit insurance: replacement or a refund for the damaged sq ft.
How long do refunds take?
Refunds start within 2 working days of the decision. Cards and UPI usually show in 5–7 working days, bank transfers and PIX in 1–3.
What if the colour doesn't look like the photos?
Natural stone varies; the broker's photos of your exact slabs are taken before you pay the balance, so colour is agreed at that point. Differences found later are reviewed against those photos.
Do I get my broker fee back on a refund?
If you take a full refund after a discrepancy, the seller is charged the broker fee and you get everything back, including it.
How long do refunds take?
Refunds go back to the original payment method: cards and UPI in 5–7 working days, bank transfers in 3–5 working days, Pix in 1–2 days. The order page shows the refund reference as soon as we send it.
Who pays to return stone?
Natural stone and tiles are heavy, so returns are rare and agreed case by case. If the stock didn't match the listing or arrived damaged beyond the packing allowance, the seller pays. For change-of-mind returns of unused, uncut ready stock, a 15% restocking fee and return freight apply.
Buying requests (RFQ)
What is a buying request?
When live stock doesn't have the colour, size or finish you want, post a buying request (RFQ) with your quantity, sizes and photos. Verified sellers with matching stone quote you, usually within 48 hours.
How are quotes ranked?
The QwikStone match score weighs how close the quote is to your request (finish, thickness, quantity, ready stock), total lead time, production time, price against the other quotes, and the seller's record. Badges show the closest match, fastest delivery, shortest production and lowest price.
Are RFQ orders protected too?
Yes. Every order — live stock, cut-to-size or from a buying request — is QwikStone-verified: deposit held by QwikStone, broker inspection before the balance, and the same refund rules.
Can I choose payment terms?
Yes, when you accept a quote: 50% deposit / 50% after verification, or 30% / 70% if the seller offers it.
Can I send drawings or photos?
Add up to 10 photos or drawings to your request; sellers see them before quoting and can send photos of the actual blocks or slabs with their quote.
Account & security
Why do I need 2-step verification?
Orders involve large payments, so every account can use an authenticator app, SMS or email codes; sellers, brokers and staff must. Turn it on in Account → Login & security.
How do I change my language or country?
Use the globe button in the header (or the menu on mobile). Each country offers its own languages plus English; your browser's language is used by default when it's offered.
How do I add delivery addresses?
Account → Addresses. Add your GSTIN/VAT number to an address to have it printed on invoices.
Can my seller account and buyer account be linked?
Yes. If you sell on QwikStone too, connect your Seller Hub account in Account → Seller account. Stone you import can then be listed in your own store to sell locally.
How do I delete my account?
Contact support from the email on your account. We delete personal data except what we must keep for tax and legal reasons (see the Privacy policy).
How do I save addresses and payment methods?
Account & orders → Addresses and Payment methods. Card numbers are never stored by QwikStone — the payment provider keeps them and we only see the brand and last four digits.
How do I connect my seller account?
If you also sell on QwikStone, go to Account & orders → Seller account to link it. Stock you buy can then be re-listed in your store catalogue with one click.
Selling on QwikStone
How do I start selling?
Apply on seller.qwikstone.com. Our onboarding team clears your documents in 1–3 working days and emails you a link to register on Seller Hub.
What does selling cost?
A monthly plan from ₹299 in India (US$15 in the US) and a commission only when you sell: 2.5% for full containers, 4% for part containers and 6% for machinery. Buyers pay the broker fee and consolidation.
When am I paid?
The deposit is held from the day of the order; your payout is released after the buyer pays the balance and the stock is picked up from your yard.
What if a broker reports a discrepancy?
Offer an adjustment in Seller Hub → Orders, or the buyer may take a full refund. Each discrepancy lowers your account health; accurate listings keep your account in good standing.
How fast are payouts?
The deposit is released to you when the stock is loaded; the balance after the buyer accepts the broker report and the container leaves the yard. Payouts go to the bank account verified during registration, usually in 2–3 working days.
Can tile factories sell on QwikStone?
Yes. Choose “Stone” when you apply — it covers slabs, tiles and cut-to-size. List tiles with the size, pieces per box, sq ft per box, boxes per pallet and the technical ratings; the listing form does the box maths for you.
How do I answer buying requests (RFQs)?
Seller Hub → Buying requests shows requests that match what you sell. Quote a price, production time, whether it's ready stock and the payment terms you accept, and add photos of the actual stone. Buyers see your quote ranked by match, delivery time and price.
What affects my account health?
Broker discrepancies, late dispatch, cancelled orders and slow replies lower your health score. Below the warning level your listings rank lower and ads pause until it recovers.
Brokers
How do I become a broker?
Register free on the broker app with an approval letter from your local granite or marble association. Once approved, inspection jobs within your radius are offered to you like ride requests.
How much do brokers earn?
₹5 per sq ft inspected (converted outside India), paid after the inspection report is accepted.
What happens if I miss the 72-hour deadline?
The job is offered to other brokers and your rating and job priority drop.
How do I register as a broker?
Use “Register as a broker” at the top of seller.qwikstone.com (or the broker app). Upload your association approval letter and membership number; QwikStone checks it with the association, usually within 2 working days.
How are broker fees paid?
Buyers pay ₹5 per sq ft (converted to their currency) for the inspection. It's held by QwikStone and paid to you when you submit a complete report with photos — weekly, to your verified bank account.
